A Legacy of Brotherhood

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry: It’s more than just a group, it’s a way of life that encourages members to be the best versions of themselves.

A Legacy of Brotherhood, Built on History

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest groups of its kind. It started centuries ago with the stonemasons who built our amazing cathedrals and castles. Today, it’s a global brotherhood focused on helping its members become better people and supporting each other and their communities.

Guiding principles of Freemasonry

Freemasons value integrity, friendship, respect, and service – principles that are just as important today as they've always been.

Integrity

Freemasons are focused on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to helpthem achieve that goal. Being a Freemason gives members a sense of purpose, supporting and guiding them on their journey through life. Collectively, members are bonded through an understanding of unity and equality – principles fundamental to Freemasonry.

Friendship

Freemasonry provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last a lifetime. Being a Freemason means something different to each person who joins, but whether they are looking to make acquaintances or develop their own potential, all members share a sense of togetherness that strengthens their ability to succeed and grow.

Service

Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause, or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry. Our members make valuable contributions by  donating their time, resources, and skills.

Respect

Freemasonry unites people irrespective of race, religion, or other perceived differences that can divide us as a society. Members are expected to have high moral standards and are encouraged to openly discuss what the organisation does and what it means to be a part of it.
