For Freemasons, for families, for everyone
Kindness has always been a core principle of Freemasonry. Individuals give time and money to help others, whether locally, nationally, or globally. It may be realising a dream for a member’s child, caring for older Freemasons, volunteering on a local community project, making donations to other UK charities, or responding to an international disaster appeal.
Today we are one of the UK’s top charities raising over £33 million a year and one of its main grant-giving bodies. See below the details of our five charities.
Masonic Charitable Foundation
“For Freemasons, for families, for everyone.”
The Masonic Charitable Foundation builds better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education, and promoting independence for Freemasons, their families, and the wider community.
Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.
A wide range of help and support is available for Freemasons, their wives, partners, widows, children, and grandchildren. Most of the support provided takes the form of financial grants to assist with financial, health, or family-related needs.
For further information about the help and support available from the Foundation, please call their dedicated freephone enquiry line: 0800 035 60 90 or email help@mcf.org.uk.

The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Company
The RMBI has been caring for older Freemasons and their dependents for over 160 years.
We operate 17 residential care homes across England and Wales, offering high-quality care. Many of our homes are registered for both residential and nursing care, and a number offer specialist dementia care. All of our homes can offer places to people with dementia, following an assessment of their needs.
THE FREEMASONS GRAND CHARITY
“The Freemasons’ Grand Charity is dedicated to helping people in need and has donated over £100 million since 1980.”
Each year, The Freemasons’ Grand Charity provides relief grants for hundreds of individuals who are experiencing financial difficulty, as well as donating millions of pounds to nationwide charitable projects and services.
Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys
The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys mission is:
“To relieve poverty and advance the education of children of a Masonic family and, when funds permit, support other children in need.”
The Masonic Samaritan Fund
The Masonic Samaritan Fund is a charity funded by Freemasons and their families.
They provide grants to eligible beneficiaries who have an identified health or care need and, faced with a long wait for treatment, care, or support, are unable to afford their own private care. Details of the eligibility criteria, the application process, and how to support our work are available online.
